Treat varicose veins and thus prevent phlebitis in Lucerne
We offer consultation on all of the treatment options and find the therapy that is best for you. Our specialists are experts in modern, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and classic (vein stripping) and reconstructive (vein concerning) surgical procedures.
Treating varicose veins – your treatment options with us in Lucerne:
✓Micro/sclerotherapy using liquid and foam technology (sclerosing)
Sclerotherapy is a gentle and scar-free method for removing varicose veins. A distinction is made between sclerotherapy using liquid and foam technology. The form of therapy we use for your child depends primarily on its size and location.
Liquid sclerotherapy is suitable for spider veins and small branch varicose veins. We prefer to use foam sclerotherapy for larger and deeper areas. In both techniques, the diseased vein is punctured with fine needles. The sclerosing agent is then injected. The treated vein then sticks together from the inside, closes and is broken down by the body within a few weeks.
✓Microsurgical techniques (phlebectomies)
Phlebectomies are minimally invasive and therefore very gentle forms of treatment for varicose veins. They are also known as the hook or crochet method. A special hook is inserted under the skin through small incisions, with which the diseased section of vein can be carefully pulled out and completely removed.
✓Minimally invasive therapy procedures (laser, radio frequency, etc.)
Both endovenous laser and radio wave therapy are very modern and gentle methods for treating varicose veins. Under ultrasound control, a catheter is inserted into the diseased vein, which is then destroyed from the inside using laser light or radio waves.
✓Classic varicose vein surgery (vein stripping)
We only use vein stripping in rare cases - as a last option, so to speak. Stripping is the classic method for the complete surgical removal of varicose veins. In this form, the diseased venous cord is completely or partially pulled out through a skin incision.
✓Vein-preserving surgery (valvuloplasty)
In contrast to stripping, with valvuloplasty the affected vein is preserved and does not have to be removed by our surgeons. Vein preservation is therefore considered a particularly gentle therapy for impaired venous valve function and varicose veins. During the procedure, the defective venous valves are repaired with a so-called VenoPatch. The VenoPatch acts like an internal compression stocking and covers the vein.
